Dave Carroll - Thursday, August 22, 7:30 pm at The Grace. Tickets $25 at The Grace, or Fulton’s Pharmacy, Tatamagouche, at the door, or www.gracejollymore.com
With each live performance Dave Carroll’s goal is simple:
To leave the audience knowing their connection to others, happier than when they entered, inspired by songs and stories that warms their heart so they will return home seeking to be kinder.
A singer-songwriter and storyteller for over 30 years, Dave Carroll is a founding member of the ECMA winning band Sons of Maxwell and an award-winning songwriter in his solo endeavors. He and his brother Don enjoyed a robust career sharing their music around the world for 20 years and continue to perform to this day. However in 2009 an amazing set of circumstances changed Dave’s life.
As social media was just beginning to emerge, Dave took a frustrating experience with an airline breaking his guitar and used YouTube to share his story in a satirical music video. “United Breaks Guitars” became an early viral video and the #1 music video in the world for a month. In what followed, his video became the centre of a global media frenzy, United Airlines stock dropped by $180 million, Dave became a consumer advocate, an author and a professional speaker working in over 30 countries and, today, United Breaks Guitars has nearly 20 million views.
While his experience with this one song will undoubtedly be at the centre of his musical legacy, Dave is most proud of his body of work as a whole and his favourite song is the one he is working on next. His live concert performance is a journey through a road-tested collection of songs and stories that serve his over-arching goal stated above.
