The Land Lady is a new play by Tatamagouche playwright and novelist Gary Blackwood. The one-person show features Nicole Uzans as iconic Canadian artist Emily Carr. It takes place long before Carr achieved success, when she was eking out a living by running a boarding house in Victoria. She recounts and often dramatizes scenes from her childhood; the years she spent studying art in San Francisco, London, and Paris; her failed romances; and her attempts to free herself from the conventions imposed by the art world and by society.
It will be presented May 17 and May 18 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students, available at the door.
